Litium Report:
Nordic Digital Commerce for B2B 2022

High growth expectations for B2B digital commerce

Litium is one of the Nordic region's leading players in digital commerce. Every year we publish an annual report "Nordic Digital Commerce in B2B 2022" about trends and future of e-commerce for companies that sell B2B. This year's report highlights that e-commerce between companies continues to increase steadily and almost half of the companies surveyed have either started or further accelerated their digital sales initiatives because of the covid-19 pandemic. The report also shows that the companies consider digital commerce as an important part of their sustainability efforts.

Litium's study was conducted in March 2022 and is based on responses from more than 900 decision-makers in Nordic B2B companies, making it the Nordic region's largest study of digital commerce between companies.

"We see that the interest in digital business is increasing among the Nordic B2B companies and that they have a positive view of their future sales growth. Two out of three currently use digital sales channels and of those who do, 73 percent predict growth in the coming three years. The market for B2B e-commerce is much more unmature than B2C e-commerce. There is great potential, and the market continues to grow steadily”

Nordic Digital Commerce in B2B 2022 reflects how more and more B2B companies are reviewing their business models to take advantage of the opportunities that digitalisation offers.

“The pandemic has driven the digital transformation. Nearly half (44 percent) of the companies have either started or accelerated their digital sales initiatives because of the covid-19 pandemic. As the world changes faster and faster, increased digitalisation becomes a tool for companies to become more flexible and able to act more agile. Digital business models also open for opportunities to expand into new markets. As many as 59 percent of companies expect to sell through digital channels outside their home market in three years,”

New for this year's report is that it highlights the companies' views on digital commerce in relation to the company's sustainability work. 1/3 believe that investments in digital commerce are an important part of the company's sustainability work.
